Originally from the UK, I completed a First Class Honours degree in Philosophy at the University of Sydney in 2008 and worked in market research and refugee advocacy in Australia. In 2010 I moved to the US, where I earned an MA and PhD in Political Science from Northwestern University. I taught at several American universities and a prison, and published my first book, before returning to the UK in 2021. I also make pottery.
